When you engage Hen House Kitchen (HHK) for a half day workshop you are in for a fun, collaborative, and delicious experience.  In advance of the class we'll send you tips to prepare your kitchen (not too complicated, basically clear some counter space!)  On arrival, we set up your kitchen for our fun and informative experience.  Each "work station" will be equipped with a cutting board, kitchen towels, knives, and an apron to use for the duration of the class.

Cost $125 per person for 4 to 6 guests.

  • Four hours hands on instruction + 15 minutes set up

  • Workstation set up for each guest (see above)

  • Specialty equipment needed for class, for example, tortilla press, paella pan or pasta rollers

  • Printed recipe packet for each guest

  • Ingredients*, excluding pantry staples

Not included:

  • Cookware, dishes, utensils

  • Common pantry staples, for example, sugar, salt, oil

  • Kitchen clean up

  • Beverages

  • Our organic cotton Hen House Kitchen Aprons can be purchased for $30 each.

In advance of the event the host will receive detailed lists of what pantry staples and cookware will be used.  If these items are not available in the host home, HHK will provide.

Not enough counter space? We can provide an extra 6' of "counter space" with a pop up prep station

*Some ingredients (lobster you say?) may require an additional charge.

Yucatecan Cuisine

Mexican is high on my list of favorite cuisines, actually it may be right there at the top!  Growing up in Rhode Island we didn't have exposure to authentic Mexican cuisine.  After moving to San Diego I soon discovered what I had been missing!  Welcome to the cuisines of Mexico.  In this class we will review the basics of Mexican cookery while focusing on recipes from the Yucatan region.  A highlight of this class is making corn tortillas at home, which is much less intimidating once you try it!
